Grand National ladies day hat designs
Hats off to our students
It truly was ‘Hats Off’ to our year 12 BTEC Fashion students at this year’s Grand National Ladies Day.
Year 12 students have been working hard to produce a range of hats to mark the 40 year celebration of Red Rum’s last Grand National win. The students have worked closely with The Jockey Club at Aintree racecourse to design and create millinery suitable to be displayed at the celebratory exhibition in honour of Red Rum’s 3rd win. The girl’s hats were displayed in stable 46 alongside original memorabilia marking Red Rum’s legendary history. The hats were viewed by thousands of racegoers over the 3 day national weekend as well as featuring on BBC News.
In readiness for the event the girl’s hats were also displayed at the Aintree Grand National Media launch as well as being modelled at the Liverpool Lord Mayor’s Charity Fashion Show.
It was a huge honour to be the only secondary school to be commissioned and invited to exhibit at such a high profile and prestigious event. Holly Lodge and the BTEC pupils would like to thank The Jockey Club for this memorable opportunity.
